Thank you for your interest in participating in the American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights’ (AAPER) first annual Palestine Freedom Walks! The Palestine Freedom Walks will be silent marches to take place on October 10, 2009, similar to those that took place during the Civil Rights Movement, on behalf of an equitable U.S. policy toward Palestine that advances freedom and equality for the Palestinian people.

You may still donate on behalf of yourself or others whether or not you are able to participate in the walk.  Both registrations and donations are tax-exempt. Children are welcome, and may register for $10.  Those who wish to may register the day of the event, but we encourage you to register as soon as possible so we may provide enough materials for those involved.

Please note that this walk will take place, rain or shine!

The Palestine Freedom Walks have

two major goals

:

First, to

raise awareness

about the situation in Palestine among Americans who will take part in, sponsor and observe the walks, including your family members, friends, neighbors and community members.

And second, to

raise funds

for a powerful AAPER online advertising campaign calling for freedom for the Palestinian people.

PRINCIPLES

To (a) ensure the consistency of our message and (b) protect the integrity of the walks from those who might have agendas inconsistent with or other than the specific agenda of the Walks,

everyone who participates in a Palestine Freedom Walk will be asked to abide by the following principles:

1. Walk in silence. Please do not chant or shout.

2. Wear the Palestine Freedom Walk T-shirt, which will be distributed at the Walks themselves.

3. Walkers at the front of the walk will carry the Palestine Freedom Walk banner. Please do not carry any other signs or banners.

4. Pass out only literature on the situation in Palestine provided by AAPER.

By gathering in a unified way and with uniform resources, we can deliver a clear message to our fellow Americans about the importance of freedom and equality for the Palestinian people. This clear and consistent message will be delivered beyond the Walks themselves through our work together and into the Free Palestine Online Advertising Campaign that these walks will help fund.

Like the Freedom Walks during the Civil Rights Movement and AIDS Walks and Breast Cancer Walks before them, the Palestine Freedom Walks can have a major impact across the United States as we work to advance an equitable U.S. policy toward Palestine that finally advances liberty for the Palestinian people!
